The following areas are part of the Academy’s growing work:
- Classroom and online training courses according to the seminar program (published annually)
- Operation and expansion of the VEBS topic and speaker database to support internal training processes
- Training certification
- Review, recommendation and publication of literature in the field of “Christian pedagogy”
- Support for specialist group work in the VEBS
- Promoting the link between “commitment” and “subject specifics” by supporting curricular work
Classroom and online training
Seminars and conferences are offered nationwide with the aim of supporting, initiating and conceptually developing biblically based educational work. In addition to training events for educational staff in daycare centers and schools, there are conferences and congresses for employees in the secretariats, in the management of educational institutions and for board members and management.
Database to promote internal training work

The association offers a database of topics and speakers to support needs-oriented training on site. Access is available to all managers via the respective Teams channel on the VEBS platform.
Speakers can be contacted via the database in order to use the content offered for the independent realization of events (training formats, events for parents or the public, consultations, etc.).
Certification

The VEBS Academy awards the Comenius certificate for participation in designated VEBS Foundation events during the first three years of professional activity.
Due to its fundamental and introductory importance, this can be acquired by all employees. It provides proof of basic knowledge of the opportunities for shaping Christian Evangelical schools and daycare centers in the context of a Bible-based and Christ-focused pedagogy. The Comenius certificate is an important basis for the further professional development of staff within schools and daycare centers and in extracurricular work.

“I would like to support my brothers and sisters in the field of education in realizing and conceptually developing biblically based further education – on the basis of the world and human image that God presents to us in his word. We have the great privilege of being able to work with people. Our professional interaction with them in the field of education must be shaped by God’s view of his creatures and his plan of salvation for us all.”

“I see it as a huge gift to be able to work with my colleagues in the association, as well as at the schools and daycare centers. I enjoy working with people and am happy when I can support schools and daycare centers a little in the area of further education.
As the Queen of Sheba said: “What a privilege it is for your men to be with you every day” – it is such a privilege for me to be in God’s service in this important work and I would like to face people in my work in the same way!”
Dr. Axel Schwaiger, curricula development

E-Mail: Akademie-Curricula@VEBS.de
Phone: 0721-940862-14
Dr. Axel Schwaiger has been employed by the VEBS since April 2023 and is responsible for the further development of the curricula of Evangelical schools in the association. After his studies and doctorate, he worked as a historian and from 2007 to 2012 was a teacher at an Evangelical school and most recently worked for the international missionary organization Bibel Liga. Axel Schwaiger is married, father of a grown-up daughter and lives in Nuremberg.
“Only if the biblical image of God and man is also recognizable as a common thread in subject teaching will the ‘Evangelical school’ become credible and perceptible both internally and externally. Confessing Jesus Christ is our unique selling point and a prerequisite for young people not only learning ‘for life’ at school, but also being able to encounter their Lord. I would like to help anchor the Christian profile in the curricula by breaking down the biblical world view in a meaningful way for the requirements of the respective subject and making it more visible by including a perspective ‘from God’.”
